An influential book interpreting modern art through a lens influenced by critical theory, Krauss became one of the most-read art historians and theorists in the US, and is perhaps best known for her editorial position within the left-critical art history journal October. See in particular her texts Notes on the Index parts 1 & 2, which informed many people’s thinking about the return of archival, research, and documentary practices that have become definitional of much contemporary art today.
