In this book Devij, one of the leading theorists of militant Islam, tries to understand Al Qaeda’s jihad against the US from an ethical (as opposed to military, economic, or political) point of view. He argues that Al Qaeda’s war on the West is rooted in the perceived moral and metaphysical evil embodied in its consumerist, individualistic society and analyzes the decentralized organization of Al Qaeda as similar to contemporary forms such as multinational corporations or the anti-globalization movement.
