The documenta 9 exhibition, curated by Jan Hoet, was on view at the Kunsthalle Fridericianum (and other venues), Kassel, from 13.06.1992–20.09.1992. This documenta, which had a strongly traditional orientation toward European art positions, could be seen as the ‘last’ exhibition about the (traditional) West. It had a particularly strong focus on Belgium and Germany. Exhibited artists included: Richard Artschwager, Francis Bacon, Matthew Barney, Marie-José Burki, Jean-Marc Bustamante, Patrick Corillon, Wim Delvoye, Marlène Dumas, Günther Förg, Isa Genzken, Ilya Kabakov, Anish Kapoor, Brice Marden, Max Neuhaus, A.R. Penck, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Thomas Schütte, Luc Tuymans, Franz West, Rachel Whiteread, etc.
