Art and Utopia was put together by Manuel Borja-Villel (MACBA, Barcelona) and Jean-François Chevrier, who developed the ideas further from the work of the original research team (which included Rosalind Krauss, Benjamin Buchloh, etc.). The exhibition was held at MACBA 3.6–12.11.2004. The culmination of the research carried out for the exhibition and the book is a new version of the show at the Musée des beaux-arts, Nantes (7.4–3.6.2005). Exhibition and project considered key moments in the exchanges between art and poetry in the 20th century through the late seventies. Exhibited artists included: Odilon Redon, Günter Brus, Umberto Boccioni, Guillaume Apollinarie, Pablo Picasso, Man Ray, Raoul Hausmann, Josef Albers, Wols, Roberto Matta, Richard Hamilton, Bruce Nauman, Dan Graham, Hans Haacke, Dieter Roth, Julio Campal, etc.
