The 24th São Paulo Biennial, São Paulo was organized by artistic director Paulo Herkenhoff; adjunct curator: Adriano Pedrosa ; and curators: Bart De Baere, Maaretta Jaukkuri, Lorna Ferguson, Awa Meite, Rina Carvajal, Apinan Poshyananda, Ivo Mesquita, Louise Neri, Vasif Kortun, and Ami Steinitz. The exhibition, which was on view from 02.10.1998–03.12.1998, considered the themes of ‘cultural cannibalism,’ appropriation, and consumption. Exhibited artists included: Sherrie Levine, Bruce Nauman, Francis Bacon. Louise Bourgeois, Helio Oticita, Lygia Clark, Dennis Oppenheim, Lucio Fontana, Thomas Struth, Cildo Meireles, etc.
