        Nancy Adajania

Nancy Adajania is a cultural theorist and independent curator. She taught the curatorial practice course at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Salzburg (2013–2014) and she was the co-artistic director of the 9th Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, 2012. She has written and lectured extensively on art and the public sphere and transcultural art practices; she has lectured on these areas at venues including: Documenta 11, Kassel, and the 3rd FORMER WEST Research Congress: Beyond What Was Contemporary Art, Part One, Secession, Vienna. She is the author of The Thirteenth Place: Positionality as Critique in the Art of Navjot Altaf (2016), she has proposed several new theoretical models, and her essays appear in numerous books and anthologies including: Western Artists and India: Creative Inspirations in Art and Design (2013); Vernacular in the Contemporary: Part 2 (2011); and On Horizons: A Critical Reader in Contemporary Art (2011). Selected curatorial projects include: Sights and Sounds: Global Film and Video, The Jewish Museum, New York, 2013–2016; Sacred, Latitude 28, New Delhi, 2014; and No Parsi is an Island, National Gallery of Modern Art, Bombay, 2013.
