Andrea Tompa is a writer, theater critic, and curator. She holds a PhD in twentieth-century Russian Literature and currently teaches at Babes-Bólyai University, Cluj. She is president of the Hungarian Theater Critics’ Association, editor of the theater magazine Színház, and an editorial board member of the journal Critical Stages. Her main field of interest is twentieth-century and contemporary Hungarian and Eastern-European theater and drama. She is a regular contributor to the magazines Magyar Narancs; Theater Heute; and Theater. She has published two books dealing with Hungarian and Transylvanian past: From Top to Tail (2013) and The Hangman’s House (2010), and has received several literary prizes for her work.
